GENTLE SNOWFALLGENTLE SNOWFALL (ADMIRALS BRAID X TETSILOAM RALPH HENRY ) Tetraploid, 29”, EM, 5.5”, 3Br., 19 Buds, Semievergreen A great near-white tetraploid with wonderful potential for the hybridizer,
proving once again the remarkable qualities of conversions. She begins to
bloom here in early mid-season, and is exceptionally fertile both ways, and
is endowed with good strong scapes and nice dark green foliage. I have set
many pods on GENTLE SNOWFALL, especially with pollen from cultivars
that have blue-lavender eyezones. In fact, I have already selected out a number
of keepers. I plan several more distinctive crosses in pursuit of green edges in
the season ahead. The large near-white blossoms are wonderful to work with,
and set seed readily. The beauty of working with neat-white daylilies is their
ability to combine with intense color to give super seedling richness with great
clarity. GENTLE SNOWFALL opens well on strong upright scapes, and is fertile
both ways. Rebloom is consistant here in Florida and another burst of bloom starts
again in June. A clump is a showstopper, and much admired. Many folks on the
waiting list. |
