MARYOTT'S GARDENS 2004 INTRODUCTIONS
http://daylilygarden.net Maryott's Gardens was formed in 1976 in San Jose California. We were specifically interested in tall bearded iris and had little familiarity with daylilies. Our one acre field of iris in downtown San Jose was set up primarily to focus on walk-in business. By 1985, we owned an additional 6 acres in Gilroy California and had over an acre of daylilies in addition to an extensive planting of iris. We had plans to sell dayliles, but were too busy with the iris. In 1997, we sold the land in San Jose and moved to Corralitos California, north of Watsonville and just four miles from the ocean.
The climate here in Corralitos is like no other we're aware of. We have mild temperatures, little precipitation, and lots of midday sun year around. We have fine sandy loam and unlimited water. Our daylilies bloom continuously from May until November. We now have five acres devoted entirely to daylilies. In 1998, we published our first full color catalog with some daylilies featured. We have now been breeding daylilies for five years and usually bloom about 6,000 seedlings each spring. We will be introducing our first varieties into commerce in 2004. We also acquire over 100 new varieties each year to make in the future an even better listing of the best daylilies available.
