| FUNKY MONKEY
FUNKY MONKEY, Tet, Mid-late, 34 x 5 1/2, 4 nicely spaced
lats + terminal “Y”, 40+ buds. Pollen fertile. Much
re-bloom. (RIDDLE ME THIS x WIGGLESWORTH)
WIGGLESWORTH strikes again!
If there were a category for “Nearly an Unusual
Form” FUNKY MONKEY would fit right in. But the picture shows
that the bottom sepal does not always quill, so the blossom is
not consistent enough to be registered as a UFo.
But FUNKY MONKEY is a great garden flower; I might say
a happy garden flower. It raises its sepals mischievously and
seems to call out, “Look at me! Look at me!”
It is an intense purple lavender with distinct veining
and a light line on the petal midrib. FUNKY MONKEY has a deep
green throat growing out to a light olive blending into a soft
lavender halo – very nice. Its color stands out and it flowers
abundantly with plenty of re-bloom. The picture you see was taken
in early August and you can see that there still is a lot of reblooms
left.
FUNKY MONKEY is being grown by Linda Sue and Curtis Barns
in Wade, North Carolina and will be shipped from there.
